Paintings and Woodcuts

The Library of Congress holds one of her prints called "Swimming Hole." They also hold one of her woodcuts called "Sarah's Piano."  Sarah's Piano was awarded a prize in the Tenth Exhibition of the Southern States Art League. Reviewing a show of American block prints at the Brooklyn Museum in 1929, William B. McCormick described the woodcut as "a characteristic example of a first rate subject and a very effective composition" (New York American, May 5, 1929).

Peace College Archives owns reprints of both "Sarah's Piano" and "Swimming Hole." They hang in the Archives Room to your left as you enter.

Mabel Pugh wrote and illustrated Little Carolina Bluebonnet NY: Crowell, 1933. It is the story of a little girl growing up in Morrisville, North Carolina. Peace College Archives owns a copy of this book.
