William Peace

William Peace is the founding benefactor of Peace College, 1773-1865.  This oil portrait was painted in 1850 by Carl Browne.  The portrait is a gift from Closs Peace Wardlaw, Class of 1930. Ms. Wardlaw was a great great niece of William Peace.  She died in July 2002 at the age of 91.  This portrait was presented to the College on March 20, 2003.  It is proudly displayed in President Laura Bingham's office.
